Halloween at Hilson
Students will be celebrating Halloween, this Tuesday, Oct.31st. Students are welcome to wear their costume to school. Parents are reminded that students will be eating their snacks, going out for recess and partaking in a variety of in class and whole school activities that day. Please take that into consideration when dressing your child for school on Halloween. Halloween pyjamas or black and orange clothing can be just as festive. Students wearing their costumes are reminded no masks, no weapon like accessories and small parts that can be misplaced or easily lost should stay at home.
Both Kinder classes will be joining in on a whole school activity on Halloween. They will be going to the gym to learn how to dance the Monster Mash. The Monster Mash is a Hilson tradition where the whole school learns some Thriller like dance moves to the Boris Pickett classic.
Happy Halloween everyone!
Warning! - Looks Like a Wet Weather Week -
We like it when our students get to play outside, no matter the weather. On rainy days, we hope to get outside even if there is a mild drizzle or light rain. Please send your child to school with rubber boots, splash pants and a waterproof jacket. A thin pair of stretchy gloves or mitts also go a long way at this time of year. AS ALWAYS LABEL EVERYTHING!
ELNOT Observation Tool
The Early Literacy and Numeracy and Observation Tool (ELNOT) starts this week and runs until Dec.1st. The student sample will be randomly selected. Parents with questions about this study or who rather not have their child participate are to contact Stephanie Pagan, Reasearch Officer, at 613-596-8211 ext.8669.
Hungry Bears & Water Bottles
If you child comes home with a hungry bear note in their lunch box it is because they were either provided with an extra snack from the office or asking for more to eat at school. Please pack extra snacks for your child.
There are still a number of students who do not have a water bottle with them at school on a regular basis. Please be sure to pack them. Thanks!
