HIlson's annual Scholastics book fair is coming our way this week. A flyer went home with all the details. Please look for it in Note Totes. Kinders with money can shop the Book Fair while at school on Thursday and Friday. Parents can send their child to school with money or come and take them out of class to shop. Kinder A's designated shopping times are 8:20-8:40am on both Thursday and Friday. Kinder B's designated shopping time is Friday 9:40am-10am. Parents who are coming to shop with their child are welcome to come at their convenience. Please be mindful of how much money you send as we may not be able to monitor it on behalf of your child. Students will be shopping independently with the help of parent volunteers. They may very well spend all the money you send, even if that wasn't your intention. A change purse or small ziplock bag is always helpful.
Dressing for the Weather
The weather looks wet and progressively cooler this week. Please ensure your child is dressed to play outside comfortably. Each class spends the Ministry of Education minimum of a hour outside everyday. The students spend anywhere from 40 minutes to 60 minutes outside in the morning and then another 40-30 minutes at the end of the day. They are a lot happier outdoors when they have a layer to take off, then nothing to put on.
Kinder aged students are also known to like to play in puddles, wet sand and mud and we are happy to let them. On rainy days, please send your child to school with rubber boots, splash pants and a waterproof jacket. A thin pair of stretchy gloves or mitts also go a long way at this time of year.
AS ALWAYS LABEL EVERYTHING!
ELNOT Observation Tool
Information went home on Friday, Oct. 20th in Note Totes about the Early Literacy and Numeracy and Observation Tool (ELNOT). Parents with questions about this study are to contact Stephanie Pagan, Reasearch Officer, at 613-596-8211 ext.8669.
Water Bottles
There are still a number of students who do not have a water bottle with them at school on a regular basis. Please be sure to pack them. Thanks!
