Nut Free, Litterless lunch & Cutlery Please
Reminder that Hilson is a NUT FREE school. There are students who are allergic to nuts in the Kinder classes and we must be vigilant in this regard. Wow butter & Sunbutter are school friendly alternatives, if parents are looking for something to replace peanut butter.
We also encourage a litterless lunch. Please pack your child's lunch in reusable containers.
If your child needs a spoon or fork, please provide it for them. We suggest having one in their lunch bag at all times, just in case.
Milk Forms
Milk forms went home last Wednesday, Sept. 13th. Milk forms are due Wed., Sept. 20th. The milk program for term 1 will run from Sept.25th-Jan.19th. There will be a 2nd session for term 2.
Meet the Staff Night
Hilson will be hosting its open house to meet the staff this Tuesday, Sept.19th from 5pm-6:15pm. This is a great opportunity to meet the whole Kinder team if you have yet to put a face to a name.
School Council - 1st Meeting - 6:30pm, Tues. Sept. 19th
Hilson wouldn't be Hilson without its fabulous School Council. School Council is a wonderful group of parent volunteers, community members and staff who come together once a month to share ideas on how to make Hilson even greater than it already is. For new to Hilson families, this is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to your child's school community, have your voice heard and to meet some of the other families that make your child's school a whole lot of fun! If you can't commit to being part of School Council, look at the dates for special events below and consider volunteering your time to help out for a specific event.

Terry Fox Run
Hilson is participating in the Terry Fox Run again this year after several years of very successful campaigns. The goal of the run is to raise money to support the Terry Fox Foundation and their efforts to fund cancer research. A secondary goal is to have lots of fun! As per Hilson tradition, teachers will be offering up all sorts of crazy motivators to encourage fundraising. The Kinder team is still brainstorming ideas to finalize their motivator. Stay tuned!
As always, we appreciate your support in any way. Donations are welcome but are in no way obligatory. No donation amount is too small! The event includes an assembly where different teacher ‘motivators’ take place, followed by a 20 minute walk/run on the field. The Hilson Terry Fox event will take place on Thursday, Sept.28th at 10:50am.
Donations can be made by cash or cheque (made out to the Terry Fox Foundation). To donate online, visit terryfox.org, select the Terry Fox Student Run tab, click on Sponsor a student, type Hilson in the Select a School box, then click on the Hilson link. Follow the directions from there. Note – it is not necessary for students to set up their own fundraising page. Families who donate on line are to share their amount in their child’s communication book to help the school keep track of all funds raised. Fundraising starts Tues.Sept.19th.
Playdough Sign Up
Playdough is a popular tool in Kinderland as it meets sensory needs as well as builds fine motor skills. The Kinder team is looking for parents to sign up to make playdough for their child's class. If you would like to help please send a note in your child's communication book. We will then send you a recipe and assign you a date to drop off your playdough. Thanks!
