It is not uncommon for our Kinders to come back after an extended weekend and it to feel like the first week of school. Some of our families have been away for 4 days, not following their regular routine or visiting/hosting extended family members. All of this can be stimulating and tiring for our young learners and make an early 8am start and school day on Tuesday challenging for them. Keeping routines and expectations both at home and school predictable and consistent will pay us all back in dividends this week.
Open Snack & Designated Lunch
Both Kinder classes are now offering open snack during both play blocks and having a designated lunch. During play blocks, students are allowed to sit and eat when they are hungry at the open snack table. Designated lunch follows the regular school schedule during 2nd Nutrition break and is when the Kinders receive their milk, pizza and Lunch Lady. Many of our Kinders are finding that they have little to eat at the designated lunch time and are still hungry. If you find a Hungry Bear letter in your child's lunch bag, it is because they were asking for more food at school.
Water bottles
The water fountains in our classroom are not working. Please be sure that your child has a water bottle at school. This is especially important for outdoor play & WCC students. As our school water fountains are not close to where the Kinders play outside, it is tricky sending them inside to drink from them. They generally get lost...either on their way there or back...even with a buddy. Our WCC aftercare friends are not allowed to go any further than the Kinder classrooms without one of their educators. Water bottles are essential as they make life at school easier for your child and their educators. Please be sure to label them.
Label Outerwear
Please write your child's name on their outdoor gear. Many of our Kinders don't recognize their stuff when it is not on their body. Their name on the tag with a pen or sharpie goes a long way. Thanks!
HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!!
